HERO (Philippines). It...wasn't very pleasant, honestly speaking. My best friend was the only one I knew in the cosplaying scene at that time and she had me join her six-member Naruto group (Team 7 + Gaara and Anko) as [Black] Mitarashi Anko. Since Anko is described to be a Naruto-ish examiner, you can only imagine how genki/annoying I was...only to realize days later that the entire Team 7 was composed of veteran and well-known cosplayers (Sasuke and Kakashi were emcees in the next event I went to...x_x). That was so embarrassing!! I mistook them to be my best friend's schoolmates, like our Gaara cosplayer was, and acted like a spoiled brat because I thought they see each other everyday and felt that my best friend wasn't giving me enough attention (she cosplayed Sakura).

And then our group skit--I just ended up appearing on stage and walking around because the cue for my line (Kakashi's entrance) never came until the scene was dragged for so long we had to cut it. Kakashi met us in the backstage and said he had to circle the stage or something like that after his exit from the previous scene.x_X

I was swearing never to cosplay again by the end of that day even though we already had sort-of plans to do FFAC next. I saw this gorgeous Kadaj cosplayer though, who was with a Yazoo cosplayer my best friend liked, and when they said his group might join ours-- "oh my god, I can't wait for the next con to see him again..." Lolz. And I had so much fun in the next event as Yuffie (my best friend went as Tifa), I was hooked!^_^

It did. It was the very first fight my best friend and I had in over the three years we'd known each other. But I had a really good time in my next event and I'm really glad I hadn't quit cosplaying just because of a bad first experience.^_^ Now, I have at least half a hundred friends in the community and am considered as a cosplay regular, even more so than my best friend. In fact, I have about twice as many characters done than she has, even though she started three, two years before me.^_^;;

lol my friends told me to cosplay and they havent even done 1 costume lol. but i did good and i love it so i thank them for a new "healthy" hobby....but no hobby can be considerd healthy, can it? lol

well i guess a hobby could be heathy if your hobby was to be heathy lol

Cosplaying is healthy for me in that it's a very good de-stress-or. The downside though is that I sometimes sacrifice personal needs to save money, go somewhere (i.e. a group meeting), etc.^^;;

All hobbies can be unhealthy if they start to control your life and alter your personality ie. playing a MMORPG so religiously you make plans around the game and stop going to work or school due to it........ ahaha. I think that cosplay is very good and healthy, though! I feel so accomplished when I finish my outfit and am wearing it and people appreciate it at conventions/meetings. Everyone with simillar interests gather together and have a blast, whether you're dressed up or not!

Oni-con 05 was it for me. I look back and I shudder at how...noobish I was. xD I didn't cosplay, but my friends did. We didn't really do much except go walk around for about 2 hours looking for the dealer's room. (We were distracted on the way by the Video Game room. ^^;) We did meet this awesome artist named Amelie Belcher and we sat around her booth for like 3 hours getting pictures drawn. We have bugged her ever since. We did finally get to the dealer's room where I bought some things. I was so in awe of all the things I wandered around in a circle three times before I did anything. My friend and I got to meet Vic after standing in line for like two hours...it was so totally worth it. Then we all did some kareoke, and that was about it. I guess what brings me back to conventions is the atmosphere of all the people that go to these conventions. Just knowing that most all those people there like something you like is...crazy. Anyway, that was my first but definitely not my last convention. ^^

Sugiocon 06 was my first convention. I wanted to go back this year but all my money is going to go to Otakon next year. But it was so much fun and my favorite voice actor Greg Ayres introduced Beck there, It was so awesome!
